Most asked question

As a vegetarian, the question I get the most is, “Do you miss eating meat?” The answer is no, I do not. A little background for you growing up and well into my adult life I ate beef, chicken, pork, goat, and fish. Every meal I ate included meat, I didn’t realize a complete meal could be without it. So when I made the decision to go plant-based no one was more surprised than myself. Four years later and I’m still going strong.

Here’s my secret. I am a food lover and the only way I can sustain my vegetarian lifestyle is by turning meals I used to eat into tasty vegetarian dishes. That way I never feel like I’m missing out on anything.

That’s not to say I had the vegetarian lifestyle down pact when I first started. All I really knew about being a vegetarian was what I learned from a few Youtube videos I watched. Most of those videos involved avocado, salads, and vegetables I had never tried. I soon realized that was not going to work for me. I’m a southern girl with an eclectic palate who requires flavor and heartiness in my meals. So I thought about some of my favorite dishes and how I could make them vegetarian. Lasagna, chicken alfredo, beef stir fry, Japanese curry, and the list goes on. I made all these dishes vegetarian, some even vegan.

It is my belief that anyone can be converted to being a vegetarian simply by making their favorite dishes without meat. Once you start substituting then you’ll be open to trying new ingredients and cutting meat out. Change doesn’t happen overnight start with one meal a day without meat, then two, and the next thing you know you’ll have gone a whole day. Give it a try your body will thank you.
