Cooking Fails
I watch a lot of cooking shows and they always show the meal that’s been tested 30 times to make sure it tastes and looks perfect. That’s not me, I want to share my real experiences and make cooking relatable. My meals don’t always come out perfect and I’m ok with that. When it happens I take away the parts I liked and think about how I can make it into something different or improve the meal.
Last night I attempted to make a quick meal with items I already had in my pantry. I had a lemon basil simmer sauce that I hadn’t tried before and decided to pair it with chick’n strips, brussel sprouts, and chickpeas. I thought the lemon in the sauce would enhance the brussel sprouts and chicken. I was wrong. The base of the meal was good I will definitely use that vegetable combo again, but I didn’t like the flavor of the sauce and it didn’t enhance the flavors in the way I wanted. Also I love to put red pepper in everything but in this case it did not pair well with the sauce.
Even though my overall meal didn’t work I’m excited to try new flavors with the veggie mixture base. Next time I’m going to try making my own lemon sauce. If you’re interested in seeing how I made my cooking fail meal check out my Instagram page @lifemadeveg.
